Investigation on operation status of biosafety cabinets

Collects and summaries the measured data of 962 biosafety cabinets( BSCs) from 2013 to 2015. Evaluates the comprehensive performance of BSCs according to the international and Chinese standards, which shows that the pass rate of BSCs’ average vertical air velocity, average supply air velocity, noise level and HEPA filter leak are obviously different from each other according to different standards. For controlling the product quality and biological safety risk, some standards put forward special requirements on platform cleanliness, uniformity of vertical air velocity, alarm and fan interlock function. The statistical data analysis shows the current situation of the biosafety cabinets applied in China, which provides the necessary data support for the establishment of test item and evaluation index in the further revision process of the biosafety cabinet standard in China.
